1,223 tests of COVID-19 have been performed in Sierra County with 2 new positive cases being reported bringing the total to 7 for the County. The first positive case reported back in April has recovered. 92% of the COVID-19 deaths in New Mexico have occurred in (4) counties (San Juan, Bernalillo, McKinley, and Sandoval). According to the number of positive cases compared to the number of tests performed, the state flattened the curve on April 22, 2020. NM Health Department estimates 4,742 people have fully recovered. Maintain social distancing and wear a mask of some kind. Wash your hands often with soap and water, try and not touch your face.
Sierra County is undertaking a broadband feasibility study to determine if there is a way to build a fiber optic network to bring gigabit broadband to residents & businesses in all of the County.
