Truth or Consequences, NM – Yesterday, April 29, 2020, the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) confirmed one individual tested positive for COVID-19 in Sierra County. There are many rumors circulating in the community that the infected individual was not a county resident. The state DOH has confirmed the individual is from southern Sierra County.
Rest assured, the individual has self-quarantined and a DOH surveillance officer is investigating the exposure and monitoring this case closely. Residents concerned that they may have the virus should call the DOH at 1 855-600-3453.
This is not the time to get complacent, DOH public health orders still recommend all residents maintain social distancing, wash your hands frequently, and stay home unless travel is absolutely necessary – especially if you’re sick.
